Schools

Each year, there is a full two week programme of visits and activities for schools with authors and illustrators, many of national and international renown. Authors and illustrators visit schools, or library services bring schools into the libraries so the children get an opportunity to take part in an interactive session, and, for some, it will be the first time they have visited a library. By bringing schools into libraries, it means that library staff can make sure it is the first visit of many.

Since 1983, hundreds of schools across the North East have taken part in NCBF. Some schools are new to NCBF each year and others have taken part for as long as staff can remember! Each year thousands of children take part in sessions during the two week school programme, across the region from Northumberland to Teesside.
